Karen Davis

I have the soul of a poet who is now quilting. My focus is contemporary and art quilting. I started in the March of 2003 taking lessons from art quilter, Juanita Yeager, a very talented art quilter who is generous and kind beyond measure.

I have struggled since childhood with pulmonary issues and in the winter of 2003 with 2 hospital stays less than a month a part, I decided that if I had to struggle, I might as well struggle being engaged in activities and interests that support my soul instead of waiting until, until, until, until...the lights are never green at the same time, so I wanted to plunge ahead making the best of what I have and who I am, regardless of the hurdles. So now, I am a quilter.

The name given to me by my parents is Karen Davis. The name I gave to myself is Karoda. It is a combined form of my first, middle and last name and represents integrated and cohesive rhythms of my being. I sign my art quilts as Karoda. And as if that isn't interesting enough, dig this, Ka is Egyptian for spirit. Ro is an artificial language which uses abstraction to explain ideas and rejects all previous languages before it. Ro itself is an abstraction!. I take "da" as an abbreviation for daughter...Daugther of Spirit that speaks in Abstraction.
