A Young Odetta
And Recent Years and again
I have a cassette tape of her singing songs for children. I'm going to look for it today while I make my peace with her passing. I share a birthday with her.
Among the earliest blogs by an African American quilter.
There you are. I begin to feel old as my contemporaries leave us. Sigh — there is a season.

I heard that news this morning from NPR while driving to work. They
replayed a 2005 interview where she sang a chorus of "Amazing Grace" which was deeply moving.

How can that be possible? Wasn't the march in Washington just a few years ago?
Sadness. No one comes near to her voice power, grace and beauty

I am ever grateful of the doors and windows you open. I'm intensely in love with the image of the young white man in 50's style glasses staring intently and reverently at Odetta at the Newport festival.

Lovely. Thanks for these clips. What a loss. May God rest her soul.
